The Light Bulb

Do you know what makes a light bulb glow and give off light?  On October 22, 1879 Thomas Edison attached a battery to the wires of a glass globe and current flowed through a carbonized cotton thread in the globe.  The thread glowed and the room filled with light.  The incandescent light bulb was born.

The high resistance of the lowly cotton thread to the power flowing through it made it glow and give off light.

We will encounter resistance in life, from family, friends, adversaries--from life itself.  Our ability to withstand and overcome that resistance is what makes us glow and give off light.  Without resistance we are weak and live in the dark.

Welcome the resistance, overcome it and our lives can be filled with light, not only to illuminate our way but also the path of others.
